Yesterday we had a great day! It was Ride2School Day and there were so many bikes, scooters, skateboards and rollerblades. Today we wrote about it and then used the laptops to type on a Word Document which we saved in our room folder. From there we changed the font, inserted a border and a picture or photo. Wendy emailed 3 to Denise to maybe go in the newsletter.
We are exploring money via the Reserve Bank of Australia website. Thanks Harry for teaching me something I didn't know!!

March 13
The weeks are flying past and we are almost halfway through March!!! Thanks for the lattes Mack, Xavier and Spencer. I really appreciate them. Thanks too for the kind words and cards for me regarding the needing to put down our dog aged 13. It is quite lonely at home without her but we are remembering the happy times and looking forward to footy and lacrosse both starting!!!This week we are looking at the 'ou' sound. We are exploring money in maths and would appreciate catalogues being sent to school for this topic. The children are setting their goals, thanks for doing this homework with your child.
Today is bandana day and next Wednesday is Ride2school day.
Thanks to Louise for organizing a morning tea for the class next Thursday at New Hope Cafe, notices will go home tonight. Louise is our class rep this year.
Hope you all enjoyed receiving the class photos.
Have a great March!

Parent Chat Week
It has been great to meet so many parents and to speak about your lovely children, thank you all! Thanks Lachlan W for my latte this morning and Sonny for the passion fruit :-) Yesterday we shared Mind Pirates and Mind Treasures. This helps equip your children with positive self talk. They were amazing with their ideas and sharing. Everyone has read to me and Reading groups and Spelling groups have been established. The children should now know their homework expectations. Please chat with them about this as they should only be spending about 30 minutes a night or day on these tasks Asa they do need down time after school. Welcome back to Addison and his family. Please try to come along to The Welcome Picnic on Friday if possible. At this stage I'm planning on being there but have yet to find out what time Rep Basketball is on and where I need to drive to.
We will be starting VIP of the week next week. I shall ask a brave volunteer to go first. Have a great week, we are!!!

Post Info Night
It was great to meet so many lovely parents last night! Thanks for coming. Looking forward to a great year working with your children and you! Apologies regarding Camp notices mix up. The notification was for Level 4 camp. Congratulations to all children on their SRC speeches, truly fantastic! Thank you for assisting in the preparation. Very pleased with all children who had a go, well done and please try again next year and in the future. Thanks to those who let me know about swimming choices.
DON'T FORGET PHOTO DAY IS TOMORROW!! We are scheduled for a 12:40 slot! Please ensure your child is in correct school uniform, has clean teeth and brushed hair and a big smile!!! I shall try to do the same.
Thanks to Louise and Marc for my after school latte! In case you need to know, just in case you are ever late!!! I like a weak skinny latte no sugar OR a chai latte if I have already had my caffeine quota for the day, a seldom occurrence!!!
Thanks again for all you have already done and please let me know when I have made a mistake OR done something okay!

SRC 2014
Good Afternoon All! We need to SRC members for this year! Please encourage your child to discuss this with you, I will tomorrow. I encourage all students to have a go at preparing a speech on the topic of Being 3WS 2014 SRC members. 3 students are excluded from this as they have already been SRC last year or in 2012, sorry Jack, Lily and Xavier :-( I will ask these children to explain what is involved in this role to the class.
Also, I need a volunteer or 2 to be our Parent Rep. It is a Fete year so it will be a slightly ( actually more than slightly) bigger role this year. My Rep last year did a lot of organizing via email with a class contact list. Please let me know via email, please.

WEEK 3 ~ Feb 10th
Welcome to Week 3!!! We just completed our spelling program set up, a work in progress. Each child has 5 words they misspelled last week to work on at home. If your child spelled these words correctly this morning, they should hopefully retain this on Friday. I would like each child to practice spelling these words throughout the week in their homework books.
Thank you for the wonderful All About Me boxes. We have really enjoyed sharing them.
3WS is looking after the school's chickens this term. Today Sonny and Jack collected eggs, changed the water and topped up their food.
The children have been to Mandarin and Art today. Library is tomorrow. Please remind your child to return their books. Also, Diaries need to come to school every day please.
Have a great week.

This week ~ Week 2
Hi Lovely Families,
This week we are doing lots of Assessment. All children have completed a spelling Test, at their level, taken as of the end of last year. (Grace and Lauren will complete this tomorrow.) We are currently working through a Numeration Screening Test which will provide me with s starting point in terms of Place Value and Counting. Next week we will be completing some Reading and Comprehension Assessment.
To celebrate Chinese New Year, I decided to do some cooking with your children. We made baked and steamed chicken dumplings. All children grated carrot, chopped capsicum and spring onion and combined the mixture before folding their own dumplings. They were delicious, despite me leaving the water chestnuts at home in my pantry, sorry! :-(
We have celebrated some birthdays at school. 2 in January, 1 so far in February and 3 more to follow! We do have a student with a life threatening food allergy in our class but feel free to send along treats if this is how your family chooses to celebrate but no nuts please.
Looking forward to Information Night and Parent Teacher chats later this month. I did send home 3 notices today with your child.
Looking forward to a fantastic year of learning and laughing.
